Oh, I immediately had an allergic reaction as soon as that photo was taken.

Beautiful girl – Taking back Sunday

The monologue at the beginning of this song (from the film Beautiful Girls) is one of my favorites, and it rings true every time I hear it. Plus, I have a pretty huge soft spot for Taking Back Sunday and Micheal Rappaport.

A beautiful girl can make you dizzy,
Like you’ve been drinking jack and coke all morning.
She can make you feel high,
Full of the single greatest commodity known to man:
Promise. promise of a better day,
promise of a greater hope,
promise of a new tommorow.
This particular aura,
can be found in the gait of a beautiful girl.
In her smile, and in her soul.
In the way she makes every rotten little thing about life
seem like it’s gonna be ok.

I haven’t read this book in about 11 years, but I found it lying around the house and decided to pick it up again. I remember it having a pretty profound affect on me as a kid, and if it wasn’t for my highschool English teacher who insisted I read it, It probably would have been years later that I actually got around to giving it a chance.

I think it introduced me to that sense of excitement and bewilderment that inspires people to actually ‘live’ there lives. Your brain is a pretty big sponge when you’re 16 years old, and i’m just glad this was one of the many influences on me back in the day.

If you’ve never read ‘On the Road’ I would insist on finding a copy and making a point of it. You might just learn a thing or two about yourself along the way.

The Country.

19Jun09

I was in the country today. I haven’t been outside of Montreal since I moved here, so it was pretty nice to get deeper into Quebec and see what it’s all about. We went to this little town called Magog to drop Zoe’s sister Emma off at camp. It was a pretty awesome little place. It reminded me of the little town in ‘No Country for Old Men’. Buildings that all look the same, locals who know everyone, and little boutique stores and restaurants all mashed into one block.

It’s the type of atmosphere I would love to live one day when I am over this whole big city thing. Sitting on a patio and just loven’ life.

The weather was pretty crappy today, which sucked because I even brought my swim shorts (anyone who knows me knows this is a huge deal). But it all ended up fun. Zoe’s mom bought us all lunch which was super nice of her, and it was good to spend the day with two of my favorite people.

All in all it was a great afternoon, and pretty much anything to get me out of this apartment I will take advantage of these days.

I really gotta get a digital camera (already have an amazing 35) so I can start photoing this stuff. The mac photobooth just isnt cutting it these days.

This is me at a ‘job’. Haven’t had one of these in a year. No biggie.

Breakfast

16Jun09

I haven’t posted on here in a while. Been busy working at Sony Music, doing a whole whack load of freelance, and I picked up the pen and paint brush again, so that’s been consuming a lot of me as well.

Oh, I’ve also decided I am going to start playing tennis. I don’t really know the rules, or how to play, but I figure how hard can whacking a ball with a racket be.

And to leave things off, here is my breakfast. Iced caps and pepsi. Delish.

I got bored last night and decided to go on an adventure. A hair adventure. I also accidentally Ethan Hawk’ed my face.

Thanks Ziz. Job well done.

A bunch of us have some art in a benefit for our good friend Geoff. He had all of his camera gear stolen in the fall, and has since been shooting photos with an old microwave that he rigged a flashlight to. It’s not the best setup, but he does what he can with it. So with that said we figured we would try to raise some cash money so that he can get back in the game.

Oh, and it’s all you can drink for five bucks. I will be far gone drunk by the time any of you even read this.

Monday,

02Jun09

I just burnt a bunch of curry. When I say a bunch I mean enough where it could’ve fed me for a week. It was so bad I actually told it to ‘f&*K off’ and tossed it in the garbage. I am broke so it was a hard thing to do, but when I decided to give it another chance and the second bite was 1000 times worse then the first I know there was no turning back. The worst part is that I actually went to the grocery store to get supplies for it, and while I was there I thought ‘Maybe I should get other food for later’ but then decided ‘Nah, im gonna make so much curry. I will just eat later’. I totally blew it.

Oh, and I just had this conversation over MSN with Gordie.

Went out for breakfast this morning, and this conversation was told to our table.

(names have been withdrawn to protect identities)

“_______ , why are you putting your pyjamas on in the washroom?”

“Because I don’t want you to see my butthole…”

Whenever I see my friend Darrell he always makes a point to tell me that I either haven’t updated my blog in a few days, or that all I ever do is blog about food I eat. Well, when you lead such a boring life like I do the highlight of your day is eating, and when the food you eat sucks it makes it hard to blog about.

I’ve just recently realized that I pretty much made myself broke by how much I eat out, so i’ve made the effort to only cook from now on. Considering I never eat breakfast I figured I might as well turn over that new leaf as well. Well, two birds with one stone, and here is my breakfast sandwhich I just cooked up. It’s pretty much the most basic thing in the world. Bread, egg, cheese, bread. Not really rocket science. But it tastes awesome, and makes me want to dance. Oh, and considering how much money I don’t have, this sandwhich probably cost about 80 cents. When you factor in No Name everything, you can pretty much cook for dirt cheap.

Here is a photo of me getting a better look at it. And it ultimately getting my approval.

Photo 143

And here I am eating this sucker.

Photo 142

Darrell, I think we should have a cook off. Whoever can make the most delicious, poverty induced meal for the cheapest wins. Think along the lines of ’spaghetti and hot dogs’ or ‘mustard sandwhiches’.

House

I hung some curtains last night. (This is what happens when you live alone, and have watched every movie you own 600 times.)

I couldn’t sleep, and ended up finding these hiding in a cupboard. I think they look pretty good, while Zoe says they don’t match the walls. This might be the case, but since there is a school across the way I don’t feel like looks are the most important factor -

a) I don’t feel like as much of a perv having wide open windows to an elementary school.

b) Now I don’t have to be terrified that I will wake up in the middle of the night and look out the window into the blood red eyes of a ghost child standing in the school waiting to steal my soul.

I also finally tackled dish mountain. It took a good hour to get through, and got pretty shitty towards the end (cigarette butts and old bozey limes). And for whatever reason I have been waking up at like 630 am everyday and getting a jump on normal people things before noon (laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc.). I’m not really sure why, but it feels pretty good. Oh, and i’m also getting a ton of work done which is great.

PS. Sorry about the photo, but when your digital camera is a 15inch macbook pro you can’t really get the National Geographic type angles.

I finally got around to watching the Documentary ‘DIG’ last night. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, it’s about the musicians in the Brian Jonestown Massacre and the relationship they had with other up and coming band at the time, The Dandy Warhols. It touches on several things, like the eventual falling out the two bands had, the opposite paths both groups inevitably go on, and then the complete meltdown of BJM founder Anton Newcombe.

I was never really into the Brian Jonestown Massacre before, but after viewing the doc I have no idea why. They are beyond there time, but with that said, sound like they should have been playing music thirty years ago.

Anyways, check out the myspace, it is worth it.

I can’t believe something like this, especially in a state such as California, can be upheld.

Super lame.

Bummer.

Here is a photo of me eating my dinner in the front hallway of my house. Look how stoked I am!!

Snakepunch.

24May09

My freind Aaron and I have been throwing around the idea of him tattooing a snake shooting lightning out of it’s mouth for a couple years now. For whatever reasons we just haven’t gotten around to it, whether him being busy, or me moving around and not being in town.

But that changed this weekend, as Aaron was on his way back from the East Coast Tattoo festival, and stopped into Montreal for a few days to tattoo and enjoy what this amazing city has to offer. After a full night of partying I mustered up enough energy to head into St. Henri where he was working out of for the weekend. After forcing some pizza down, and chugging as much Gatorade and water as I could fit into my booze filled belly, we sat down and got things going. Three and a bit hours later and I had a gnarly snake, shooting lighting, and the type ‘SNAKEPUNCH’ tattooed just above my hand.

I am pretty stoked on Aaron’s work, and he has come along way since the first time he tattooed me (we both missed a spelling mistake on a piece he did on me a few years back. Adds character I say). Anyways, it was great seeing him, and I love when old friends get a chance to venture into Montreal for a few days.

So, here is the snake, in all it’s glory. Sorry about the shitty webcam photo.
